Every Advent the DSHA community joins together to support a different non-profit organization and this year is no different. For 2025, DSHA’s scripture verse is Micah 6:8: “Do justice, love goodness, and walk humbly with your God” and so during Advent, Dashers are focusing on “walking with the Magi to Jesus” by supporting St. Anthony’s Pre School.
St. Anthony’s Pre-School in Milwaukee works to provide young students with a strong foundation both educationally and spiritually. Through the work of caring teachers and support from their local community members, St. Anthony’s teaches their students about God in a warm and nurturing environment. Not only that, but it is also a popular service site for many Dashers, especially for seniors during Vocare!
For this year’s Advent service project DSHA will be focusing on “doing justice” through service, giving and action. More specifically Dashers are encouraged to participate by giving of their time by volunteering at St. Anthony’s, money or toys for the students, or by purchasing winter jackets for 2-4 year olds. Since St. Anthony’s is a Pre School where many of the students may not otherwise be receiving gifts this Christmas, each student will be given a new warm jacket in addition to a toy.
Donations will be collected until December 19th and will be given to the students when they return from Christmas Break as a Three Kings Day surprise. Throughout Advent, special events such as the St. Nick’s Pop Up Market and Collections Days, all the money raised will go directly toward gifts for students at St. Anthony Pre School. Also, as an incentive to participate in the project, each Dasher’s donation helps their House win more points!
