Field Hockey Recap

The Varsity Field Hockey team also won state this year! Captain Mackenzie Doerr said the key to their season was patience, hard work, and positivity. When asked how the team was so successful she said, “Our motto this year was “all in” and we truly held each other accountable to always give 100% during practices and games. We kept a positive mindset even when times were rough.” It is a long road to State, so for a team to bring home the championship, it’s imperative that they do not lose focus and hold each other to that goal. Similarly, Captain Anna Falci said, “Our team had a good team culture this year […] We all held each other responsible, but we were also always there to help each other when needed. The closeness of our team truly made all the difference this season.” The unique and tight knit team environment paved the way for this year’s Varsity Field Hockey team to find lots of success. When asked about her favorite memory from this season, Anna recounted a particularly fond moment, saying,, “Winning out second to last conference game. We played Arrowhead […] It was 0-0 all of normal play, so we went into overtime. We scored a great string of passes. Then, we all went into a dog pile on the field.” In the end, a string of passes led to the team’s win. Mackenzie Doerr’s favorite memory from the season was “winning state. As a senior, this was an amazing way to end my high school career. Seeing all our fans cheering us on after we won truly made everything seem worth it.” All in all, the 2022 Varsity Field Hockey team was truly one-of-a-kind because of their unique team dynamic and earned trust, thus leading to their great success.
