Swim and Dive Recap

The DSHA Varsity Swim and Dive teams ended their season with an amazing sectionals meet and a record-setting state meet. At the Sectionals Meet at Germantown High School, there were 10 girls competing across 16 individual events and three relays. 14 out of those 16 individual events earned best times and all three of the relays were best times as well, with the 200 medley relay consisting of Chloe Rummel (25’), Lauren Correa (24’), Rose Kachelski (24’), and Maggie Brzezinski (26’) breaking the previous school record by 0.01 seconds, setting the new record with a time of 1:51.82. The dive team, consisting of Kendall Rummel (26’) and Allie Brennan (24’), had an amazing meet as well; Allie ended up qualifying for state. The sectionals meet was a huge success for the entire team and prolonged the season with a trip to state for the 200 medley relay and Lauren Correa’s individual event, the 100 breaststroke, as well as diver Allie Brennan qualifying with a score of 407.9.

The state meet started at Waukesha West High School on Saturday morning with diver Allie Brennan scoring 382.85 points and finishing 13th when she was originally ceded 17th, bringing an incredible end to her high school season. Allie said that the state meet was “an incredible experience” and “something that she had been working towards for a while.” The swimming portion of the state meet was in the afternoon, with the first event being the 200 medley relay. The relay swam strong with multiple season-best 50s, swimming a time of 1:51.77, breaking the school record again, and moving six places up in the state rank to place 16th when originally ceded 21st. Lauren Correa swam her individual 100 breaststroke that afternoon and finished with a lifetime best time of 1:06.56, dropping nearly a second in her 100. Both the swimmers and the divers had an amazing state meet as well as an incredible overall season!
