Rabbit

Rabbit lives deep in her burrow

She doesn’t know where to go

The dark makes sure she’s never found

Stuck safely down underground

The sunlight never burns her skin

There’s no dangers from within

She hoards pretty gems from the mines,

But never sees the gems shine

Wolves can’t find her

Lonely shelter

She can’t be traced

All are erased

When the flood comes

The rabbits from the ground above

They live in sunlight and love

They’re together, having their fun

Getting picked off one by one

A rabbit’s life is nature’s bet

They say it is worth the threat

Better to live short having fun

Then living long, having none

She never asked to live like this

All the adventures she missed

Outwit wolves, it’s what rabbits do

She needs to come out to you

She stops as thunder shakes the ground

Rabbits above won’t be found

The ground shifts and out comes a drop

Her walls burst, water won’t stop

As water consumes her burrow

There is nowhere she can go

Frantically digging out too late

The ceiling caves in her fate

She has no name

Is she the same?

Hiding herself

Is it for health?

Denied to love
