Soccer is back! The season starts up again to begin their spring season. Tryouts were a long and hard process for many, but a majority of the girls were able to land a spot on one of DSHA’s three phenomenal soccer teams and are in the middle of a great season.
Now freshman on varsity, Elaina Brewer comments on her tryout process “It’s been four days conditioning and it’s been pretty stressful and a lot of work and all of the tune-ups, and lots of preseason work too.” Going to lifts and open gyms were very common for players, hosted after school in the DSHA gym facilities, girls worked on tuning up their skills for tryouts. Tryouts lasted for four days, including many preseason activities like lifting and a winter futsal league. It’s been over a month since tryouts and the teams are organized and doing very well midway into their season.
As of right now all three teams have played multiple games. Varsity has a strong start this season with a record of 8-0. This year their roster consists of 25 players who are all doing amazing this season. In their latest game they won 5-0 against Wauwatosa West High School with 3 goals scored by sophomore Avery Roethe. Also the Varsity team was just able to secure a 3-1 win in Iowa against Wheaton North High School from Wheaton, Illinois . Their next game is on Friday May 16st against Waunakee High School. Good Luck Dashers!
