As the 2025 school year comes to a close and DSHA approaches the end of the year, seniors are eagerly anticipating one of the most exciting events of the year: Graduation and the Graduation Dinner Dance. These two events mark a culmination of four years of growth, challenges, and unforgettable memories.
Graduation, the first of the two events will take place at the Marcus Performing Arts Center. Here families gather to honor the hard work, dedication and achievements of the graduating class. It is always a highlight to hear from the seniors at graduation who share speeches. These speeches consist of the valedictorian and the designated Spirit of the Class speaker, both of whom reflect on their experiences, values and spirit define DSHA.
Furthermore, what makes DSHA graduation especially unique is its attire. Rather than wearing a cap and gown, Dashers wear white long dresses with white gloves. Each dress is distinct, expressing the individuality of each Dasher. Students gather together at the end of the ceremony to wave their gloves in a circle in the air rather than the normal throwing of the caps. Dashers heavily anticipate this moment and are constantly looking forward to it Gillian Renouard ‘25 shares, “I am looking forward to taking part in one the traditions that really makes DSHA stand out as a community of strong women coming together as a class”.
Roughly a week later, the festivities continue with the Graduation Dinner Dance, a special dinner and dance event exclusively for seniors. This night is comparable to a prom where Dashers gather and enjoy themselves. Dressed once again in their white gowns, Dashers bring dates, dance to their favorite songs, and celebrate the beginning of summer and closing of their DSHA chapter. Anne Klaus, a fellow senior shares her anticipation for this fun event, “I think it is such a fun way to wrap up senior year and end one’s DSHA career with fellow classmates”.
Together, Graduation and the Graduation Dinner Dance embody the heart of the DSHA experience: sisterhood, celebration, and tradition. These events not only honor the accomplishments of the Class of 2025 but also remind them of the strength and unity they will carry with them as they step into the future. For these seniors it’s more than just an ending, it’s a beautiful beginning.
