One of the most anticipated times of the year is just around the corner, Award season. The Academy Awards and the Grammys, America’s two favorite events, are almost here. Here are all the details about nominations, hot takes, the impact of Gen Z, and reminders of manners for this time of year.
Airing on March 2nd, the Academy Awards or Oscars will be live. As of last year, it was recorded that the Academy Awards reached 21 million viewers. The Academy will be hoping for even more views for the 97th annual Oscars. However, because of the recent devastation and disastrous wildfires spreading across California, the nomination list was delayed to show solidarity and respect for all Californians mourning. The public respected their decisions but were well pleased when the following nominees were announced later this month. Talent spread across the board for actors in a Leading Role with nominees like Timothee Chalamet in “A Complete Unknown,” Adrien Brody in “The Brutalist,” and Ralph Fiennes in “Conclave.” Controversially, the film, “Emilia Perez,” directed by Jacques Audiard is the most nominated film this year with 13 nominations across many categories like Best Picture, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Music (Original score). Since the premier, “Emilia Perez” has gained popularity due to the public’s dislike for the film, making this highly nominated film a controversial opinion for most. However, 29-year-old actor, Timothèe Chalamet starred in two highly acclaimed films this year, “A Complete Unknown,” and “DUNE Part 2.” Counting for both films, Timothèe’s movies have also accumulated 13 Academy award nominations. Coming in second to Jacques Audiard’s piece. “Wicked” Directed by Jon M. Chu, and “The Brutalist” directed by Brady Corbet have been nominated for 10 nominations.
As beloved as the Academy awards are, The Grammy awards are just as anticipated. The Grammy nominations are filled to the brim with new up and coming artists and female artists. The newer generations have made a huge impact on this year’s 67th annual Grammy awards. Nominated for Best New Artist: Benson Boone, Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, Khruangbin, RAYE, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, and Teddy Swims. Four out of the eight nominees are female artists, and Khruangbin is a new band consisting of two male members and one female member. The nominations for Song of the Year were also taken by storm with talented female artists like Beyonce, Billie Eilish, Taylor swift, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lady Gaga. The nominations for this event have been thanks to the younger generations, taking over the music industry by promoting and supporting more rising stars.
As this season comes closer the public can become more opinionated and passionate about their favorite films or songs, it is important to remember to be considerate to people with different opinions than yourself and also be kind towards the artist or actor themselves. These creators nominated have been working hard to make new forms of art for the public, respect is deserved at least in the aspect of their dedication to their passion.
