DSHA basketball is back as the new year kicks off. They are off to a strong start with 4 teams filled with tons of talent. The Varsity team is off to a great start playing 18 games already. Some of their most recent games were played at Brookfield Central and Sussex Hamilton, where they won both. At Brookfield Central Highschool they won 64-53. Senior Karinna Trotter scored an impressive 25 points. The second-highest scorer being sophomore Sophia Place with 13 points. In their game last week against Sussex Hamilton, they also won 45-38. Karinna Trotter leads the team again by scoring 17 points in the game. Overall junior Maddie Brown averages as the top scorer averaging 14 points a game so far. Brailey Baxter leads the team in assists with 30 currently this season. On the defensive side, the Varsity team has had 45 blocked shots and 355 turnovers. Karinna Trotter has 133 rebounds this season, 102 of them being defensive. In their latest game, they lost 46-56 against Brookfield East High School. The team’s record is 7-11 but the season is not over for them yet. With only less than a month left in the season we wish the varsity team the best of luck in their future games.
