This article was written before the DSHA Varsity Volleyball team won the D1 state tournament for the third year in a row!
While the state tournament is right around the corner for the DSHA Varsity Volleyball team, theDSHA Volleyball program itself has had a great season this fall. All four teams performed exceptionally well in the 2024 season, ending the season with many wins and few losses.
Varsity volleyball had a very strong season this year with an overall record of 41-1, only losing one game to a school in Illinois. They were also able to finish first in the conference for the third season in a row, winning 8-0. The team also won the sectional tournament last Saturday and are going to state tournament soon. DSHA hopes the best for our varsity volleyball team as they finish their season in the next week.
The JV 1 team finished their season with a record of 26-5. They won three tournaments and got second place in another. This team was stacked with freshmen this year as around half of the team consisted of freshman players. They played very impressively and were able to win first in the conference tournament with a close win against Hamilton High School.
JV 2’s record was 11-15, but they played very well this season. They were able to finish 5th in the conference tournament. Even with a few losses they had a great season. Maggie Mullen, a freshman on the team states, “We were able to bond so much over the season, even when we lost. I think we all had so much fun playing together.” The Freshman team finished their season recently with an overall record of 11-11, but also, they were able to take home second place in a JV1 tournament.
Overall, Volleyball has had a very great season so far and we hope the Varsity team does well at State beginning this Thursday.
