The Cross Country season is close to the end and it has been described as a very unique one. Most of this year’s cross country team was new so many adjustments were to be made, but this did not stop the team from working hard and having a great season. One of the highlights was the team’s first Dasher Invitational on September 14th. This meet was the first that DSHA Cross Country has hosted in years. Following the excitement of the Dasher Invite, the team traveled to Minnesota for the Roy Griak Invitational, held at the University of Minnesota. This was a great experience for the team athletically, as the meet included almost forty teams. In addition, it brought strong bonding opportunities for the Dashers, being described as one of the many highlights of the season. On October 18th the team ran in their conference meet at Greenfield Park. Both Varsity and JV placed 6th in their conference. Individual achievements were also made. Junior Ava Johnsen placed in the top ten of her conference in the Varsity event, and for JV Sophia Benz placed in the top twenty. On October 26th the Varsity team ran in the WIAA Sectional Meet, also at Greenfield Park. The team placed 8th overall in one of Wisconsin’s most competitive sectionals, and individually Ava Johnsen placed in the top twenty. Overall, the DSHA Cross Country team had an amazing season filled with hard work, fun experiences, and perseverance. They are looking forward to a great season in 2025, led by incoming captains Ava Johnsen, Candy Garcia-Molohua, and Natalie Ottman.
